Meet the Councilor Events
Please get in touch if you would like to co-host an event. Events will be added here as they are planned.
Neighbors of the Benjamin Lynde House
The goal is to bring together the neighbors near 244 Main Street (primarily Ward 5 residents) to share information, concerns, and ideas. I will be there as the Ward 5 representative to facilitate and hear from residents. Main Street residents Mike and Maggie Abdow are co-organizing this event.
Slice of the City, Ward 5
‘Slice of the City’ events are early evening, drop-in style meet ups at green spaces in each of Melrose’s wards. The Mayor, members from the City Council, and City staff will be present to mingle with residents. Join us to celebrate Melrose’s open spaces, engage with the City outside of formal meetings, and enjoy some local pizza.
Residents of Melrose Ward 5 (southwest portion of the City, around Oak Grove and the Middlesex Fells) are invited to meet Mayor Grigoraitis, Ward 5 Councilor Kim Vandiver and Councilor-at-Large Maya Jamaleddine over a slice of pizza at the Lincoln School playground between 6 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17.
October 7th Backyard Event
Please join us for a backyard Meet the Candidate event, hosted by one of your Ward 5 neighbors. There will be the opportunity to learn more about Kim’s plans and share your input through one on one and small group discussion. Email kim@kimformelrose.com to RSVP.
Octoberfest @ The Beebe
Stop by Oktoberfest at The Beebe Estate! I’ll be there and happy to say hello and chat.
“Join us in the biergarten from 12-5pm. There will be live music, games, food from La Qchara and Kindred Crepes, and plenty of beer! Free entry, just pay for beer and food as you go. Family and dog friendly.” See more event details from the organizers here.
Racial Justice Forum
Three anti-racism organizations in Melrose are hosting racial justice forums for candidates for mayor, city council, and school committee.
The forum for city council candidates will be Wednesday, September 20 at 7 pm. Registration is required to attend each forum.
Melrose SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee) Listening Session
A forum to hear from SEPAC members about their experiences and challenges within Melrose Public Schools.
Gathering in the Garden
Democratic candidates for Mayor, City Council, and School Board met, mingled, and shared short speeches with the public at the Beebe estate.
