Mayor Jen has authorized the Melrose Emergency Fund to distribute gift cards to local grocery stores to residents in need. Cards will be available to Melrose residents, with amounts will be scaled based on number of household members, and residents can request assistance on a recurring basis. The Mayor’s office will be coordinating with MPS to ensure appropriate school staff have cards for distribution to students needing support. If you are a Melrose resident (of any age) and need financial assistance purchasing groceries, you can reach out to the Melrose Council on Aging. The City has also compiled this list of resources for those in need of food assistance as well as opportunities for residents looking to help. This site will be updated as needs and resources change.
